What's your favorite thing about your latest release, CLOSER - A Billionaire Romance?
I
love that my main hero, Sven van der Meer, is a sexy alpha male
billionaire architect who is going blind. That just sets up all sorts
of unexpected drama, right from the get-go. Plus, he's Dutch, so he has
a sexy foreign accent. I'm such a sucker for European men!
Describe a character from your latest book in a few words?
My
main heroine in CLOSER is Inez Sanchez, a sassy, sarcastic, somewhat
cynical young woman who firmly believes the world is not all roses and
fairy tales. She has had a hard childhood, and she's spent most of her
adult life struggling to take care of herself and the people closest to
her.
Really...come on...Does the world need another billionaire romance?
Ha!
And yes, most definitely. I LOVE the challenge of doing the alpha male
billionaire romance in a different way! Billionaire romances are a
popular subgenre of romance because they offer a wonderful escape from
the daily grind of our real, less glamorous lives. And although most of
them offer a dominant alpha male hero, I LOVE the troupe of a wounded,
flawed hero who ultimately is "saved" by the heroine in unexpected ways
rather than simply the hero saving her. Plus, if it's a billionaire
romance, you know it's going to offer some amazing heat and naughty sex
between the two main characters, but I always try to go deeper and more
emotional within each of my love scenes so they are truly an exploration
of the connection between my hero and heroine.
Is CLOSER part of a series? Should it be read first?
All
of my billionaire romances are stand-alone novels that share the same
world and even some of the secondary characters and some of the minor
plotlines intersect, but they're not part of a traditional series. For
this reason, they can be read and enjoyed in any order and I love that
about them!
Your billionaire romance novels are all set in Chicago? Is there a specific reason for that?
I
used to live in Chicago and miss it so very much! I feel like my
novels are little love letters to that city. Plus, all of my heros are
billionaires who have more money than most of us can even fathom. For
this reason, I actually DO try to develop a sense of what that means
within each novel as well as how being THAT rich affects my hero's
journey and the lives of everyone around them. So, come on...I can't
set them in Idaho, right?!
Does your own writing turn you on?
It
freaking better turn me on, or else I know that I'm not doing my job!
And yes, more often than not, whenever I have to write a sex scene, I
actually end up staying up all night writing it because it's just that
hot and I cannot...stop.
Your characters favorite sex position(s)?
I
am totally and completely ALL about my hero pleasuring my heroine.
This is fantasy after all, ladies. Let's at least make it all about us!
Naughtiest thing one of your characters has done?
I still really love my second novel, DEVOTION (which *plug, plug* is actually on sale now for $0.99 until January 16, 2016)
The
main character, Isabel, receives a mysterious bouquet of pink roses at
her office, and soon, she's being courted by an impassioned enigmatic
suitor. She ends up having sex with this "stranger" several times
without actually knowing who he is (well...maybe she has a few ideas).
I LOVE that idea. Stranger sex in the dark. *whistles* zazazza-sexy!
Favorite sex song?
I
have playlists in the back of both CLOSER and DEVOTION, which include
all the songs I listened to while writing them. So yes...so many great
songs to choose from, but I think a super HOT "build up and climax" song
is Two Weeks by FKA Twigs.
